Everything Burgundy You Need for Fall!

There are a few hot colors for this upcoming fall, and burgundy is one of my favorite ones! You can see how I already styled this it color just yesterday with a bright floral skirt! As a younger adult, I used to shy away from this color - thinking it was drab and old.  I was so wrong, so wrong!  
This is actually a super fun color to style - and I love it with so many other colors: mustard yellow, denim, hot pink, crisp white and light blue, for example. If I wear it with black, I make sure there is some rich texture to at least one of the pieces to break up the darkness.
So, I highly encourage you to get a piece or 5 of burgundy to play with this fall. I think, if you haven't already, you'll find how versatile it is to mix in with things you already own!  Here are a few of my favorite pieces:

The perfect (and softest!!) burgundy sweater (I got this already!) A leather and suede tote. A swanky little cocktail dress that could go to the office layered with a blazer (shop more burgundy dresses here!). A plaid shirt in burgundy tones. Slide on loafers with multiple textures (got these, too!). Jogger pants in the 'it' color! Lace-up wedge shoes that can go to work and out (shop all great suede wedges here). Detailed eyelet a-line skirt. A sweet little flare dress to dress up or down. Heather'd burgundy yoga and workout pants. Fringe statement earrings - oh my! Slip on sneakers updated in this season's color! Jacket to take you into the cooler weather.

Color Crush: White Pieces for Summer

Ah, white on white on white - the color of summer! I especially love wearing white when my skin is sun-kissed (gone are the days I care about a deep tan, but love the glowy look mid-summer brings).  Here are a few picks to add the bright white to your summer looks.
1. A flowy white dress with loose sleeves is the perfect day into evening dress. 2. Nothing is better than the perfect white tee or tank - and goes with everything and anything! 3.  A pretty eyelet a-line skirt in crisp white. 4.  An essential evening dress is made extra special in a unique pattern or cut like this crocheted little white dress. 5.  The perfect white maxi dress - this one is on it's way to me now. 6. You know how much I love the bucket bag, and this white bucket bag makes the perfect pop. 7. I am obsessed (like wear almost everyday) with my black ones, and these white Birkenstocks are so fresh.

Currently Crushing: White Windowpane Check

I' love all kinds of plaid (and I'm not very picky when it comes to patterns), but this wide windowpane check is really calling my name lately. The white with black lines has a really modern edge to it that makes the styling possibilities endless and fun.  I especially like the simple pairing of windowpane check on windowpane check or making the pattern piece be the pop to an otherwise simple outfit. 
These ladies all look really chic and pulled together, but I can imagine that styling these looks wasn't the most difficult thing ever (hello perfect outfit for a busy and rushed morning?!).  I've rounded up some windowpane check pieces below in case you are feeling this pattern like I am:

Blush Crush

Ooohhh la la. Tis the season to be seeing red and hearts everywhere.  But I am swaying more to the hues of blush this season and majorly crushing on pinks!  Maybe it's because I've added a pink clad baby to my life or I'm wishing and hoping for spring to come early... but I'm loving all these pretty pinks.  I think Peonies might officially be my favorite flower.  Ever since a wedding I attended was decked out in them, I've been smitten. I love how full they are and they come in the prettiest shades of, what else, pink!  Another random on here, Izze Sodas.  CostCo has a variety pack that I got for a party I was hosting.  They're great for when you are craving a little something else at night (especially since I'm not drinking a whole lot of wine or beer - not that I am a lush or anything) and want an all natural treat.  I just picked up the grapefruit flavor to try!

I'm not huge into Valentine's Day.  I think as my kids get older, I'll try to make it more crafty and decorate more - but as far as over the top date night out - we do not.  We'll probably make dinner at home and spend it cuddling with the kiddos.  Especially since my days on maternity leave are winding down (I go back on Feb. 18th! eeeeek), I want to soak up every little at home time I possibly can.

Favorite Wears: Royal & Rust with a Classic Bag

Currently crushing on the mixture of rust/burgundy with royal blue ever since I spotted this sweater (you can see more pieces in these colors at the bottom of this post).  It's the perfect mixture of warm and cool tones and easy to accent with other colors, like turquoise, in my necklace's case.  

I chose to colorblock these colors and ground with a classic black bag and little black flats.  This is a fun way to wear two colors you are loving. What colors are you currently liking paired together?

Color Crush: Emerald Green

    It's St. Patrick's Day weekend and I'm sure the green will be flowing, but this color won't be going anywhere anytime soon. You may have seen my little TV debut earlier this week, but we were talking and styling emerald green. Here are a few of my favorite green picks right now. Color Crust: Golden Yellow

Lace Dress / Tassel Loafers / Crepe Dress / Stripe Clutch / Blouse / Blazer / Necklace / Crossbody Bag / Pumps / Leather Bow Bracelet / Skinny Braided Belt

Yellow is the happiest color. I should know, my living room is painted in bright, cheerful yellow (all four walls - not just talking accent wall here) and I am the happiest person you'll ever meet after all (ok, I may not be the happiest of all, but my baby Liam might be - oh his smiles go on all day and I love it).  No matter how happy we are, we could all use a little yellow in our lives to brighten any day.

I'm loving all these cheerful pieces and can see them transitioning beautifully into the Fall. Think mixing yellow with a cognac colored (p)leather jacket, chunky sweater cardigans, denim, anything in blue for that matter, or plum, or hot pink, even!  In fact, you will see one way to wear this color tomorrow, so stay tuned!
