Shop Small Business: Etsy Gift Guide

Happy Shop Small Businesses Saturday! Now more than ever is it important to shop small businesses. And make sure you look to support your local businesses, too! I've been sharing in my IG stories my favorite local shops, and will continue to do so.

Today I wanted to share a gift guide of all small shops! You can shop small easily and safely online via Etsy. I've found so many beautiful gifts and pieces throughout the years that still serve me today.

I have several of these stackable thin gold-filled rings (comes in rose gold and silver, too) that I wear non-stop (shower, sleeping, working out and all).

My favorite way to display and dispense my olive oil is through this self pour spout glass apothecary bottle

Some sweet holiday cheer through this shop and this pretty banner.

I love this pillow cover shop - and especially this one, we have it in our living room!

Obsessed with these cute kids shirts and sweatshirts hand printed. They are great quality - we've had a few throughout the ages. :)

I love this. These sweet whales are made of paper and it's a project that you get the pdf detailed directions for. The whole shop has lots of other designs, animals and flowers. I'm getting my son this for sure.

Something for the men - Etsy has great leather shops, and this slim wallet that can be personalized would make a great gift for any guy.

The sweetest garland (and other party decor/accents) that could ever be found. I got this rainbow garland for my rainbow loving girl for Christmas.

Shop Small: Sales & Gifts from Small Businesses

Shamefully, sometimes it's not my first thought to shop small - but when I do remember or make the effort, I find some of my very favorite items (like earrings for myself, or art for my home) and gifts.  Etsy is one my go-tos for jewelry (especially earrings) and cute kid t-shirts.

I was surfing their site for gift ideas, and was pleasantly surprised that many shops on Etsy are having 10-15% off (prices as marked).  So I picked my favorite items that are all on sale - you can feel extra good about shopping these sale because you are supporting small businesses!

For Kids:

Jewelry:

For Him:

House & Home:

Not on Etsy, but one of my very favorite shops (they happen to be in Kansas City, but they are nationally known and loved) is having a HUGE site-wide sale. Shop Ampersand Design Studio now through Monday and use code BIGTHANKS for 30% off!  Some of my favorite picks:

Another favorite small shop that is nationally loved (yet, again located in Kansas City) is Nickel & Suede!  They make the most beautiful earrings out of leather that are light as a feather. They do not weight down your earlobe like other statement earrings do. They come in 3 different sizes and several shapes + they have cuffs and other items that are also cute!

They are offing 20% off all their earrings today on Shop Small Saturday with code SAT20, so I'm picking up my 3rd pair of earrings from this brand. ;)

 {I'm wearing my fav pair - maroon in large, November's earrings of the month is this emerald suede, and I love all their gold earrings - including the gem shaped ones}

For the home, I have had two Happy Habitat blankets for several years, and they are still our very favorite. Not only to cuddle up with, but as a statement piece to whatever room they're in.  Another favorite local business in Kansas City, but nationally loved.  You can even find these blankets at West Elm!

Today, you can use SHOPSMALL at check out to get 20% off! These would make an amazing gift!

 {Top blank/white blanket is the one we have in our living room, and the below mini one is from Nora's room - which she's had since she was a baby and still uses to this day}

Other ways to shop small for gifts or yourself today:

- Local workout class/gyms/yoga memberships & packages (In KC area, Darling Yoga is offering 20% off their packages today!)

- Local spa/wellness center gift certificates (In KC, my favorite med spa, Plaza Aesthetics & Wellness is offing $500 off Halo face treatment)

- Shop at your local coffee shop (vs. the big brand on every corner) - pick up coffees for your friends/co-workers, grab a gift card, etc.

What are your favorite small businesses??

The Coolest Hand Made Goods for Kids!

`
It is such a good day when what the kids want to wear the things I'm hoping they'll want to wear.  And that's why I have really involved them in the process of picking out clothes - from the store to the morning of.  There are a few brands that we all can get behind!

I'm so smitten over Hazel & Ollie, a shop of hand made goods for cool kids (and grown ups, too!).  The owner of the shop, friend Emily, who also owns the Bloom Academy (see more about that here), has a colorful and playful eye that has my kids' interest, and mine!  She also has my daughter now in a tizzy over jewelry. ;)  Nora is obsessed with her new jewelry - loves the fun wooden beads (hand painted by Emily) and sweet charms, especially the ice cream cone!

The clothing is just beautifully done. It's all made to order, hand sewn and embroidered. I have my eye on these pieces for many kiddo gifts to come!  It's the perfect meaningful and personalized gift to give!  My kids love wearing clothing that are totally for them, they feel special and excited in these pieces - and that makes me happy.   It's a win-win!

Hazel & Ollie also makes really cute jewelry for grown ups - which I'll have to show you soon! Stay tuned.

 {It's clear how he feels about her aggressive kiss!}

Mama/Daughter Style Series: Summer to Fall Transition + GIVEAWAY!

It's the funky time of year - weather-wise - when it's technically fall and I'm craving all things layers, textures and jeweled tones, but it's still summer-warm. Today, our outfits (with a special guest, wink wink) kind of take a little from each season to appease both season! And even better, our outfits are crammed packed with some awesome brands with some really neat stories and standards. I know I always feel a lot better about spending money with brands that I know aim to do good in the world - whether giving back, uplifting others or use sustainable materials that helps the world/keeps my people safer.  I am happy to share a bit about these brands to just that:

First, this tuxedo vest that I'm wearing is top notch craftsmanship and quality proving a piece that will last a lifetime.  You can forget fast fashion when you shop Project Gravitas!  Lisa started her amped up her business when she decided to own her moment (have Gravitas!), and today, her business is to remind women that we all have that special moment and we need to project it!  You'll definitely feel good in her clothes! I chose to style this vest down for a summer like day in the fall season, but can wear it many different ways! Oh, and at the bottom of this post - there is a giveaway for FOUR winners.

Nora's sweet little dress (you can request to have this print made into a dress!) and matching headband (came with a mama headband, too, that I'll have to wear with her soon) is by Organic Minikins - and just as the name implies, all their fabric is 100% organic. The owner, Marie, is as nice as can be and has been a dressmaker for over 20 years. Her story or why organic goes way back (you can read about it here) and is personal - but in an effort to provide safe and fashionable options for our precious little ones, she began this shop. I'm so glad she did!  Extra good news: now through October, when you make a purchase - just note my blog name in the note section to be entered to win a bloomer and headband set (shop will draw winner in November!).

Nora and I are wearing matching mama/daughter bracelets by Geo City Girls - and I've been wearing mine ever since (I love it!!). Nora is still getting used to a bracelet - but this is a fun piece that we'll have for years together. Geo City Girls shop has fabulous handcrafted jewelry made to give you that extra boost to feel good!  And I love that. Jewelry (and lipstick!) is totally one of those things that can transform any look. Katie, the shop owner, is a mom of 3 and she just gets it. Its the little things that can turn a day, a look or experience around! And hint hint, you should monitor my Instagram for a special giveaway coming later this week over yonder!

Make sure to check out the other mama's to see what they and their littles are wearing:  SandyLaura and Carly And don't forget to check out the #MamaDaughterStyleSeries on Instagram and play along by posting your own picture of your summer into fall style, use the hashtag and tag me (@ChasingDavies) so I can check it out!

Mama/Daughter Style Series: Holiday

I'm really excited to be kicking off a new series I'm doing along with some fab other mama-bloggers (that I'm sure you know).  Sandy, Kacia, Carly and I all have daughters - and we love to get them and ourselves dressed, so we wanted to share some of our mama-daughter style around key trends, seasons and themes to come, starting with holiday!

For me, I'm always looking for ways to incorporate my kids into things I love, and one of my favorite things to do is use my creativity towards styling (outfits, home, art, etc).  I knew having a girl would be magical for me, and as she's now started to walk and is more sturdy (aka, not a ball of fabric) - it's been just what I thought it would be to get her dressed. It's so fun!  And just like I am with my own style, I'm all about mixing and matching and trying new things with her, too.

I am loving these sweet metallic outfits that are oh-so-perfect for the holidays pair with baby yellow converse high tops (SWOON!) on Nora and for me, mixed-leather boots.  I was excited to have the opportunity to style both these mama/baby styles from Rack Room Shoes (and right now, all their women's boots are on sale!), and wanted to add in the unexpected. I especially love the look of sneakers with the extra girly tutu (and the bright yellow, double-swoon!!).

I hope you'll follow along our series, as we have some fun stuff ahead!  You can also find extra posts and sneak peaks via social with the hashtag: #MamaDaughtStyleSeries - and of course, if you wish to join in on the fun, feel free to share your mama/daughter style with the same hashtag!

{Our Outfit Details: MAMA // Buffalo Check Jacket (similar here + 40% off w/ code GIFTNOW; black & white version for only $33 here!); Dress - oldie c/o London Times (last worn here); Tights; Boots - c/o Rack Room Shoes; Faux-Fur Snood (similar one here, too!); Lips.
