My long-time favorite workout and running shoe is the Adidas Ultra Boost, and there are a few avail as part of this sale event, like these cool white ones!

Unique sports bras and athletic clothes have become a really fun way to get me to the gym these days! Styling an outfit for the day doesn't stop with the gym! A few of my favorite picks: this wrap around sports bra/bralette, star workout tank, long fleece hoodie, high wasted jet black leggings.

No summer vacation is complete without a hat! This one is so cute.

The Sale! The Pieces! The Prices!

You guys, I had to pop in to share, not on this great sale going on, but my favorite pieces (because ohhh my goodness) that you can now get for 25% off!  Shopbop doesn't have a lot of sales - but when they do, I jump, bceause they are good and the brands and pieces they have on their site are top notch.

So here are the details:

Shop right now! Sale ends tonight at midnight PT!
Use code: INTHEFAM25
Enter code at checkout.
Some designers excluded (see all details here).

Here is what I think you should stock up on and why:

Turtlenecks - like this sweater and dress, even! Because winter is coming and turtlenecks are BACK (I'm so excited).

Gold jewelry and watches - because they never ever go out of style and you can wear all.year.around - and they also make perfect gifts (like this Triangle Earring Set & Leather Watch).

Winter Gear - Like it or not, you'll most likely (depending on where you live or where you're running away to) need these boots and this coat, and at least you'll be warm AND look good being so.

Classic Accessories - There will not be a day quality sunglasses and handbags go out of style or a day when you won't need them. I've stopped buying cheapo bags and limited to the number I own all together - keeping the ones that will last, like this one! Same goes for sunnies - and these ones are classic, yet unique enough to make a statement for years to come.

Denim - Try out the wide leg trend for a discount or find your own perfect pair from a wide selection of quality brands!

Vests - My very favorite trend for this season is the long vest! I have already been wearing the two I own on repeat, and thinking this gray one needs to be added to the collection. Vests are the perfect layering tool for now and later.

Booties - What is the No. 1 thing you love most about Fall style?  Mine is the bootie. I have a whole collection and I wear them all! Great time to stock up on a great pair, like these perfect ones, that will also be comfortable (whaaat?!?! You really can have.it.all).

So! Tell me - what are you getting/wanting from the Shopbop sale?

10 Summer Must-Haves to Buy ON SALE NOW!

What to get for summer on sale right now

I share sales and deals sparingly here on the blog (there are tons of other bloggers that handle all the daily sales much better than I), but I WILL share the really, really, really (really) good ones, and I have one for you today. It's Shopbop's Friends and Family sale for a few days only (now through Friday), and this is huge - 25% off, no minimum spending (some exclusions apply - but not many!).

Here are 10 things to get for Spring/Summer during this event:

1. A great pair of new summer heels! I typically love wedges (great height, but with some sort of comfort!), but this season I'm love the next best thing - blocked heels!

2.  Sunglasses protect you from getting wrinkles around your eyes. Therefore, they are mandatory, right? And you might as well love them. I have gobs of cheap ones, but last Shopbop sale, I splurged on Karen Walker ones (pictured) and love them so much. Totally worth it and I can tell the difference between a nice pair and cheapie. (you can see me wearing the pictured pair here)

3. I hope this doesn't just mean I'm getting old, but I'm more about the swimsuit cover up than the swimsuit, and Shopbop has an awesome selection!

4. A new bag, one you've been eying and can now get 25% off on. Leather, a classic color, big enough to fit your stuff... something along those lines will last your forever. I love Michael Kors bags.

5. A Diane von Furstenberg iconic wrap dress. So this one goes beyond just a spring/summer must-have, because it's great for every season - you can't go wrong!

6. Fringe - the latest trend, and now is your chance to try it out for a fourth of the price!  You can swing this trend around on a clutch (pictured above) or a skirt or on your shoes + more!

7. Two Words: Maxi Dress. What's more summer than that?

8. Let's face it, good, properly fitting lingerie is expensive - especially bras!  Now would be a great time to get something that is up to date and will work great with those lighter, summer fabrics.

9. A hat, duh! I am in my 30s now... so protecting my face from the sun is a must. I would rather be fair than sun-spotted. Plus, their cute, obviously.

10.  A cute pair of flat sandals to take you from the pool to lunch (I'm all about versatility).

I'll keep you posted on what I end up getting - shopping today!
I'd love to know what you end up getting!

4 Versatile Pieces to Stay Stylish: Inspired by HP x360

I am all about versatility. It's a key ingredient in my life. I have many interests, jobs, responsibilities and a busy day-to-day, so my outfit, make-up, accessories and technology have to transition with me through it all.  It can be kind of crazy when I think of the different things I have dipped my toes into, but I love being creative and pushing myself to learn more and above all, being a mom.  So, I was really excited to partner with HP x360 to share 4 versatile pieces you totally need in your own life!

Furthermore, HP is on tour with Meghan Trainor, and she is so on my playlist right now (on repeat, my whole family is up dancing to her beats before bed every night).  It's really cool, because along the tour, HP is collecting behind the scenes footage and fan generated documentary, all using the HP x360!  Think about what you could do with this versatile piece of technology?

I want to know what gets you through the busy times - what do you find to be most versatile in staying fashionable and on top of your mega to-do list?

1. A denim jacket. You probably have this already and maybe it's like 15 years old, too?  Truth be told, the denim jacket isn't my favorite style piece, but I'm constantly grabbing it to top off any look, travel with it because it goes with everything and find that it is the perfect in-between weight for those days where you don't need a full-on coat.  Its cost per wear is super low and always in style, so get a good one that will stay structured, and hold its shape over the years.

2. Technology that works, on the go, when you need it, where you want it and adapts to all those different situations. I love how you can turn this HP x360 from a typical laptop, into a tablet, use its keyboard or the touchscreen, stand it up or pitch it like a tent (like to watch a movie). With these 4 modes and extra capabilities, this is technology that really moves with you letting you take your work wherever you need it.

3.  Tortious and leopard print is my go-to, and not really for wearing prints. I wear them like I'd wear a solid neutral. They instantly make any simple outfit way more polished and really ups the vibe for non-simple outfits.  They are classic patterns that will never be out, so they're worth investing in - like these sunglasses (on sale with code: BIGEVENT15) and scarf!

4.  Color on your lips can set your whole day off on the right foot... I'm a big lipstick girl in all sorts of colors and usually, the brighter the better for me (because my natural shade fades right into my face). But I realize not everyone is as bold in their lipstick choices.  There are two spectrums of versatile lip wear:  a classically bright and bold red or a glossy light pinkish-nude, like I'm wearing here. I'm not typically into light colors, or lip glosses for that matter, but I have fallen in love with Bare Mineral's lip glosses, and this one in Rebel.

{Outfits Details:  Denim Jacket; Sweater - H&M; Skirt (on sale for $16!); Tights; Wedges - old Bandalino (similar), Pretty druzzy-stone necklace is made by the ever-talented Ngan of eNVe Designs c/o, Sunglasses c/o, Earrings c/o, Bracelets - here and here}

Shoe(s) of the Day: Top 10 pairs you should get during the big Shopbop Sale Event!

As I mentioned earlier today, Shopbop is having their HUGE sale event and it's happening now.  It's a scaling discount depending on how much you spend between 15% and 25%. And the only brand not participating is Stuart Weiztman, so there are a TON of awesome brands you can skim some major bucks off.  Thus, I wanted to pop back here today to share some top picks in the shoe department.

Here are my top 10 shoe-picks that you should really check out and why...

1. Birkenstocks! You guys, I have these (worn here) and they are WORTH IT (so comfy).  Worth it even more now that you can get them for 15-25% off, which is super rare!
2.  Converse sneakers (Chucks) - are a classics that you'll wear for years.  Get these, it's a no brainer.
3. Summer is coming... really, it is.  These sweet sandals would set up some pretty cute outfits.
4. During this in-between weather of some snow, ice, rain and such, Sorels are a go-to! These weather booties would be super cute in all kinds of weather paired with skinny jeans and a white blouse, topped with a bright trench jacket.
5. These sweet pastel flats would be super cute for Easter... just sayin'.
6. More cute summer flats.
7. Tall Hunter Boots in classic glossy - these are never on sale, so this is huge (shop all Hunter Boots).
8. I love the windowpane print, and might love it even more on these slip-on Kate Spade sneakers.
9. Jojo wedges for that new season soon to come.  Show off your pedicures, gain a few inches in height.
10. My favorite fall into winter into spring booties for the last few years!

But this sale is site-wide, even off their brother site, so happy shopping!  Tell me what you get!

Favorite Wears: Spring Dress Styled for Winter

Last weekend it was 60 degrees! We've been so lucky to have some amazing spring-like winter days, but really it just has me more antsy for the real spring days to come.  And playing with flowers didn't help that desire... but boy was it fun.

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending a blog friend's first class with her new venture, the Bloom Academy.  Emily hosted and shared her mad skills for a Floral 101 class/girl's afternoon out (it was like a little party - so fun!) and I learned a ton.  I'll have more info on that and how you can get involved (in Kansas City and online) soon.

So for now, I'll just give you a little preview of my floral arrangement I made, and what I wore - of course!  Thanks to Emily for having me - can't wait for the advanced class (after a few more 101s of course...).

{Outfit Details: Scuba*-Material Dress (on super sale! also love this one), Tights, Wedges - Bandalino (similar), Bag c/o Shopbop (shop similar bucket bags here), Bracelets - here (for your FitBit! more compatible jewelry here), here and Madewell (if you're loving cold bracelets like me, check out this selection), Sunglasses (I'm loving round sunglasses), Earrings, Lipstick}

*It's a thicker material that really allows for the article of clothing to hold shape! It's also super comfortable, a bit more substantial and warm for cooler weather, and holds you it well!

Favorite Wears: the Bucket Bag Reveal

Outfit with sneakers and bucket bag

Remember the bucket bag round up I shared last week? Well, here is my reveal - the one I snagged and have been carrying every since. I love it.  And the leather... it's so nice.  I really need to wash my car (I have a point, I swear), to the point that I come to work every day with car dust all over me from digging out bags, buckling in kids and just general walking too close. I get stuff on my new purse all the time and it just cleans right off (thankfully, but only after a mild heart attack, not the new purse!).  I forget how well quality items really hold up. Which is especially great since I'm not gentle on anything I own.

On a neutral kick lately, I wanted to still wear something a bit interesting - so I paired this faux-leather pleated skirt (that my husband lovingly stated looked like a trash bag... ok, fine - I'll get a REAL leather skirt then husband.) with an oversized denim shirt, gold accents and old-school adidas sneakers. Lots of unexpected pairings here, and I loved the outcome. Sometimes I just play in my closet, put on a bunch of random things and see how it comes together. This time it worked out, at least I think.

What is the weirdest outfit combination you tried and actually liked the outcome?!

{Outfit Details: Shirt, Skirt - old from ASOS (a better one, on sale!), Sneakers - scored second hand c/o Twice (same style here), Earrings, Bracelet, Purse, Scarf - gift, Lipstick}

The Bucket Bag Round-Up

How to style and wear the bucket bag

I've been intrigued by the trending "Bucket Bag" for a few months now, and after looking at tons of different examples for how to style them (fav looks above) and then different versions, sizes, colors and brands available - I've ordered one from Shopbop for myself!

One thing I love about this type of purse is that it's EASY. No snaps or zippers to fiddle your way into your bag, just a draw string type contraption.  This might sound super lazy (and it probably is), but when you're carrying 3 other bags, finding your keys, your phone, lipstick, a cracker for your kid, etc can be cumbersome.  So, without further ado,  I've rounded up some of my favorite picks, including the one I got (to be styled and shared soon...):
