Favorite Wears: Red Hues for Summer into Fall

It was a particularly sunny day (it's been a pretty sunny start to fall here in Kansas City) when we were snapping this outfit that I wore to work, so excuse the weird shadows. But, I just love this look for transitioning from summer to fall, and working with layers for cooler mornings, into hotter afternoons.  Plus, my office stays pretty cool, so my jacket typically stays on while inside even!

I especially love mixing hues that are all part of the same color family. So this outfit is med up of red, blush and maroon - with black a neutral pop and anchor.  What are your favorite color-family looks?

Favorite Wears: Summer into Fall Dress

Loft floral dress for fall

I recently got this new floral dress that is perfect for the end of summer, beginning of fall and into cooler weather with the mix of deeper hues and white. I love a piece that I can wear for multiple seasons - especially if it's a piece I love so much! Here is how I wore it for a summer day, but could wear it as fall approaches!

{Outfit Details: For Summer - Dress, Ring c/o - made at the Color Bar (see info on that here!), Earrings c/o, Tote c/o, Flat Sandals by Charlotte Stone; For Fall - Clutch is old - similar option, Earrings c/o - also made at the Color Bar, CardiganBooties c/o (that are super comfortable!), Lips}

  And with the simple addition of several fall staples, this dress is ready for cooler weather (and thank you baby Kansas City for the last week of fall-like weather!).  The layering game is my favorite one to play! And I especially love to play with different textures - it just adds to the uniqueness of an outfit.

Favorite Wears: Athletic Dress

Athletic inspired dress for casual outfit wear

The summer dress (as also mention here!) is the easiest thing to transition from most seasons, so I have no qualms with half my closet being hangers full of them. A newer one that I've already worn a few times for both the versatility and comfort is this athletic inspired dress.

What's better is that they go perfect with my second pair of Birkenstocks that I just had to get for three reasons, 1) I absolutely LOVE my first pair that are black; 2) These ones are in narrow - so actually fit a bit better than my original pair, which I have learned are a  bit of a wide fit naturally; 3) They are on sale.

As you can see below, this dress, and even those Birks that are all too comfortable to retire anytime soon, will easily transition into fall with the addition of a jacket - and I love that simplistic look!  It's all easy - and pulled together with a red pout, of course! ;)

{Outfit: Dress, Flats, Tote c/o, Sunnies c/o, Lips, Bracelet/Necklace - similar, Earrings c/o, Jacket}

Favorite Wears: California Style

I love coming to California! There is just an ease to the way of life, a relaxed frame of time and a casual but chic way to the style.   It's carefree, but smart (both in outfits and the way of life, that is). This week I've been traveling in southern Cali and spending time outside sans bugs. Like multiple hours outside outside, eating, drinking and conversations without a single mosquito bug bite.  That's it, I'm moving here tomorrow.

And besides that - the temperatures are near perfect. Springtime all the time. And the lack of humidity and steamy temps has me already excited for our Midwest fall (I know - smack me).  This outfit offers the perfect California layers and/or summer into fall pieces.  Evy's Tree is a brand based in Sonoma, CA and designs luxury comfort wear and hoodies for women. Their pieces, like this hoodie are extremely soft, relaxed and rich in design and color. This piece will take me well past fall!

3 ways to wear a white dress right now

I love wearing white all year around, but you definitely have to style your summer white pieces differently come fall and winter.  Make sure you pair your summer items with knits, winter patterns, textures and items that will keep you, well, warm! Here are 3 ways I'm wearing my favorite white, eyelet dress from summer right now:
1. Pair with plaid (and my favorite, buffalo check) and metallics.  This look is a more glamorous version of cozy-chic and could easily go from day to night:

2. Layer with more white! But pick wintery pieces, like a sweater with more texture to make the two pieces look different from one another!

3.  Go sporty!  This fleece varsity jacket could not be more comfortable - and it's warm! In this case, the feminine details of this dress (as many summer dresses employ) help balance out the athletic-inspired pieces:

{Outfit details: Dress - c/o Boden, Red Lips & Sunglasses - c/o Firmoo worn with... 1. Buffalo Check Jacket (this one would be cute, too!); Necklace; Earrings; Wedges 2. Sweater - Old Navy (last year, similar); Pearl Earrings - old (similar); Boots 3. Varsity Jacket (on sale!); Necklace - Forever 21; Sneakers - J.Crew (sold out; similar & same style}; Red Purse - c/o Fossil}

Wear Now, Wear Later: The Little White Dress

The little white dress has long been categorized as a warm weather only item, but I've been a fan of white in the winter (way past the arbitrary expiration date of Labor Day)! Even more so lately, I've been craving the bright white paired with the chunky winter knit or opaque tight. I love the look of opposites married together to create something just a little bit unique.

So don't be afraid to stretch your summer-wear into cooler months, or start thinking about getting a new piece that seems out of season now. You can see by these styling ladies that you can wear the little white dress now (cold weather) AND later (obviously the perfect summer dress).
