A Fall-Time Must: Pumpkin Patch

Happy Halloween!  I hope you all have fun plans.  We're taking it pretty easy... Liam will do a little trick or treating at Dad's work and then we'll come home to hand out candy.  I have a confession to make... I don't really love Halloween.  We have a dog that barks and a baby that goes to sleep around 8pm, which both don't lend themselves well to ringing doorbells. And I don't want to be the house with all the lights off.  We could always try setting candy out on the porch, but does that just get completely taken the first group of middle school kids that come along?

Anyways, while the actual Halloween day isn't my favorite, I do love all the festive fall activities that come along with preparing for this holiday. We've had fun making some easy and fun Halloween decor, hitting up an orchard for apple picking, visiting the pumpkin patch, baking fall favorites, like my first pie ever and another fun treat coming at you tomorrow.  Not to mention, this weather is my favorite.  Perfect to be outdoors, not having to deal with a big coat just yet, but getting to layer on sweaters and wear booties.

Here are some photos from our little getaway to the Louisburg Cider Mill & Pumpkin Patch this past weekend.  It was a beautiful day and we loved exploring outside!  Liam is just in his happiest element playing outdoors... he loved the dirt, going down the slides, watching tractors and trucks around the farm and picking out (and trying to pick up) pumpkins.

{These boots were my birthday present to myself and I couldn't have picked a better gift.}

{Wearing this summery dress into Fall with a chunky sweater, my new fav booties and maternity opaque black tights c/o Preggers.}

We were successful in our pumpkin hunt! We brought home two pumpkins that we (or Greg) could easily carry back to the car, since we decided not to haul around the wheel borrow they offer.  We ended the morning stopping by the cider shop for apple cider slushies and donuts. Can't.get.enough.

What are some of your favorite things to do with your family this time of year?
