A mama and her baby

Outfit out-takes and details

For whatever reason, certain outfits don't ever make it into a blog post. Maybe I didn't have time to take a proper photo or the rushed photos I did attempt turned out apparent.  Sometimes an outfit I thought looked alright that morning, really didn't look as good as I had imagined looking back. 

And even a times, I attempt a trend or style pairing I've been thinking about and it doesn't translate well.  Often times I like a specific piece of one of those "lost in translation" outfits, just not the whole thing or something was missing.

So today I'm going to share with you some of those bits and pieces from a few outfits that never made it to the blog...

*Love the faux-leather tux pant (similar option) detail on these pants, but I styled them all wrong with a frumpy, ill-fitting top and bulky blazer, so you won't be seeing that portion of this outfit. I'll be restyling these soon.

*I actually liked this outfit, but no chance for photos this day. I relied on giving you all a little peak into what I was wearing through Instagram instead (@ChasingDavies). (P)leather pants and stripes!

*I learned that I like camo print with this jacket, and gave the trend in pants a try. I like them, I learned that much - but wore them in a boring way. You might think it's not possible to be boring in camo pants (even if you don't like the print), but it was just too blaa to share, so a redo is coming...

*You can probably guess why these photos never made a post...while I actually liked (and still do) this outfit  the photos are horrible and do it no justice (to a fault).  This was just one of those days, on the run and my hurried attempt did not pay off.

*Trying to go for casual cool and just came off frumpy and sleepy, not to mention, I look really old in these pics for some reason. Stressful week at work? I liked this outfit in my head...not how it translated into real life.

Layered Up is a Cold Weather Fav!

My favorite thing about colder weather is wearing layers. I find so much interest in the little cuffs and collar the peaks out from a sweater, and the different patterns and textures mixed together. I love using a bright belt to highlight your waist and add a splash of color. Today I layered 3 pieces to play with Fall.

One of my favorite things about a new J.Crew collection is not even the actual new items of clothing for sale... or that the last collection will be marked down, but for the styling! I treat the J.Crew catalog like it's one of my very favorite magazines. Except, it's free and probably my actual favorite magazine. It doesn't just make me want every.last.thing.in.there - but the real bonus, it inspires me to style items I ALREADY own in new ways. A lot of leopard for a sweet wedding

Leopard print has been an increasingly favorite pattern to mix into my wardrobe over the last couple of years and for a sweet little wedding I decided to go all out. Mainly because it turned cold fast and this dress has sleeve! Long sleeved dresses are a real favorite of mine, and kind of hard to find.

I've already worn this jacket recently (here), but in a very casual, cozy way and it was oh-so comfy that I wanted to wear it again (like the next day), but dress it up a bit.  You'd never know this little structured jacket with a peplum was a sweatshirt  Well, you'd never know if you weren't the one wearing said jacket.

Time Warner Cable, known for delivering in home entertainment, information and communication services at top quality and value, showcased it's SignatureHome service last Thursday evening as part of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art's annual patron's party.  The event was held at a private, impeccably designed, stunning home and packed with special guests (!!!) and features!

Kick starting October in layers

Right before the start of October, this past weekend,we went to the 11th annual Oktoberfest that my friends host on a big plot of land in Kansas. Every year it's an event to look forward too... includes a big bonfire, tons of unique beers, wine, great food and the best company. This year the weather could not have been better. A place to for beauty: Parlor Kansas City

Kansas City may be a few years behind larger cities, but thanks to Meg Haas, we finally have a blow out bar and place for beauty. Meg opened Parlor: A Beauty Bar exactly one week ago and her salon offers several types of blow outs, up dos, hair styles you only dream of and even make up services! 

I got to experience the salon's vibe first hand and loved every minute I was there. The bright yellow chevron walls, exquisite pendant and chandelier lighting, cushy salon chairs and yummy smells from the hair products filled my senses.

Curious what blow out I got? After a good hair washing, a deep condition soak, some blow dryer action and curling iron work, I had the beach wave do cascading around my face. Lovely Gia worked her magic, all within 40 minutes form the moment I walked it.  Without a deep conditioning soak, services can be as quick as 30 minutes!

I would love is to have a good blow out before work here and there - how great would that be? Or before a weekend wedding or big event?  So many great reasons to pamper yourself, and with prices starting at $35 (plus tip - 20% is customary if you are satisfied!), really affordable!  What would you get a blow out for?
