Favorite Wears: How to wear the Boho trend in your 20s & 30s

With warmer weather, I find my style feeling more relaxed and easy. But I still want to look feminine and chic, so that's why I am loving the new boho look.  It combines both the relaxed feel with the girly look that I'm craving.   My friend, Mary-Katherine at Gold-Hatted Lover agrees! So we got together to share our own take on this trend in partnership with Lulu's today!

We also happen to each be a decade (or so) apart, and wanted to show you that no matter what your age, you can style any trend accordingly!  I'm in my (lower) 30s, so I chose to layer this mini dress/tunic over a pair of jeans. I love how you could make this dress longer or shorter depending on how you situated the shoulders (you can actually pull it up over your shoulders a bit if you wanted, or even lower on the shoulders!).  You can shop all LuLu's new boho pieces here!

I topped of the look with braids (duh) and simple, but beautiful jewelry. Love the long necklace with this pretty druzzy stone pendant and the gem ring to continue the boho feel.   It's all easy to piece together and wear with many different things throughout the summer months.

{Outfit Details: Tunic c/o, Jeans c/o, Wedges - old, shop brown wedges here, Sunglasses, Necklace c/o, Bracelet, Ring c/o, Bucket Bag}

Make sure to check out Mary-Katherine to see her  Boho look over at Gold-Hatted Lover.   But both looks are great for whatever age you happen to be - as long as you love it and are comfortable, that's all that matters!  And we'd love to see your take on the new boho look - so make sure to tag us (@ChasingDavies & and @mkminnis_ghl) or link to your look in the comments so we can check you out!

Favorite Wears: Casual Leopard Coat

I've dressed this coat up for a holiday party not too long ago (HERE), which was pretty easy to do - but I wanted to take it for a casual spin, too.  It's super warm, which is great for the coldest part of winter hitting right about now and turns out, pretty easy to dress down, too.  I lovingly call it my pimp coat. :)

So, in my findings, I think every girl needs to own a leopard coat. You can easily dress it up and you can also dress it down, like here!  Throw over a simple outfit to make it a little less simple and as bonus, it's warm.  There you have it, winter made a little happier.

{Outfit Details: Leopard Coat (on sale!), Blouse - Loft, Jeans (high-waisted!), Flats - secondhand J.Crew via Twice (same style, sans leopard toe-tip), Sunglasses - c/o Lulu's, Bag - c/o Fossil, Lips}

Fall Trends: 8 Outfits to Try Now!

I had a blast styling 8 different looks with Meagan from Because of Jackie in partnership with LuLu's around trends that anyone can rock!  Fashion is not anything but a form of one's own creativity, expression of feelings and a way to be different from everything else out there!  And you don't have to spend a lot of money, be a supermodel or feel uncomfortable each season trying new trends and styles.  There are ways you can incorporate what is hot right now into your own style and life.

I love challenging myself and collaborating with likeminded brands and bloggers.  I feel like every time I do, I learn so much about my own self, style and what works (and doesn't work) for my body or comfort level.   I hope that you got something out of it, too!

Above is a look from each post, but you can check out all eight trends here:

Fall Trends with LuLu's: Knits, a Winter Must Have!

It's easy to throw on a sweater with jeans, but always trying to switch things up and do something a little different... I have been loving the look of a cozy, winter knit layered over a dress (a summer-ish one at that!). So, I layered this old bright pink sweater over this soft pink LuLu's maxi dress, pulled on my trusty booties and with a metallic gold purse, this outfit could transition from day to night.

 And can we just talk about the best accessory of all? That little, about to be, one year old there.  She is the best.  Still lacking much hair, but the cheeks make up for that.  And if she's anything like her big bro, she'll have more hair than we know what to do with soon enough, but not too soon, because I'm already sobbing in my coffee cup every morning as she does something oldish.  Seriously... it goes too fast.

As soon as this weather actually straightens up (it was 80 degrees last weekend... I mean, sorta loved it for a second, but I'm all about fall weather of a bit crisper temperatures), you'll see that sweet Nora-bean styling knits of her own.

{Outfit details: Sweater - old from J.Crew; Dress, worn as a skirt - c/o LuLu's; Gold Bag - J.Crew via Twice (great way to buy high-quality secondhand pieces); Pink Lips; Booties; Necklace - old (similar style); Sunglasses - Forever21 (similar style)}

Fall Trends with LuLu's: Mad for Plaid!

Plaid is the epitome of fall fashion - it's screams cooler weather, cozy texture and perfect layers. It's even better when paired with other patterns and unexpected pieces -- like stripes (classic), pops of bright color and/or leather (faux).  I took this plaid jacket and stripe tee combo two ways and both could be day or night.

I used to think plaid was country, to be paired with cowboy boots and worn for apple picking or a bonfire, and would wear only for a very casual look.  It's been great playing with the print over the last few years and discovering how versatile and fun it is. I particularly love it with the pop of bright pink and paired with pleated (faux) leather - which could be way dressier paired with heels, but I kept the outfit playful for day with slip on sneakers.  And then of course pairing the mixed patterns over jeans with wedges and gold jewelry is an easy go-to!

What are ways you are styling plaid?

Fall Trends with LuLu's: Florals for Fall

I tend to think of wearing florals at the start of spring and through summer, but I love challenging myself and purchasing clothing that is more versatile.  So, when I saw this long floral dress on LuLus.com, I knew I could winterize it with some booties and leather.  I also think it'll look great with a cozy sweater cardigan and tights layered underneath (for extra warmth!), and then come warmer weather, peel it all off, that's easy.

I also like that this dress, being a maxi dress and all, is still super comfy. I tend to shift towards cozy items for fall and winter and can quickly become boring.  This blog helps me keep things fresh, at least some of the time, and easy pieces that of more interest, like this dress, helps, too.

Please share with me how you challenge and keep your style unique and interesting during the cold winter months (when all you want to do is wear sweats and a big ol' sweater)!

Fall Trends with LuLu's: Boot Wearing

How to wear ankle baring booties in the fall

I've noticed this fall as I was changing up my closet for the new season and laying out my packed away goods, that my boots get shorter and shorter (at least I'm not talking about a dress or skirt here, right?!) the newer they are.  From over the knee down to knee-high to further down to ankle, I have them all!  But this season, it's all about the low-ankle height (or lack thereof).  The ankle-baring bootie, that I started loving towards the end of last winter, are even easier to find this year, including this fun Western-inspired pair from LuLu's.

I love these booties for a few reasons: they add the perfect sliver of skin for the the cooler weather, are easy to wear with pants and skirts/dresses alike, and, well, they are comfortable!  The best thing about boots these days, there is something for everyone - most heights, heels, toe-shapes and colors are readily available and fun to style for the cool months.  And speaking of color... make sure to check out how Meagan styled a colorful pair of booties!
