Favorite Wears: High Top Sneakers

Styling High Top Sneakers for women

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have caught a glimpse of one of the Christmas presents I received (thanks Mom & Dad!).  I have been wearing these high top sneakers ever since. They are super fun. I never thought I'd be someone to wear high tops, but as a girl that'll try most fashion trends at least once, I've found that I love this one!

To keep it less costume-y, I've paired the sneakers with classic pieces (like a stripe top and skinny jeans) and kept the styling true to my own personal style by mixing patterns with this sweater!  My next challenge to myself with these kicks is to style with a dress... stay tuned!

Are you into this high top sneaker look?

{Outfit Details: Jacket - Target (another cute option for only $23!); Cardigan Sweater - old from Anthro; Stripe Top (on sale); Jeans; Purse - old, but similar here and here; Earrings; Lips; Nike High Tops - Suede version here or burgundy leather ones here}

Sunny Stripes & Hair Tie Solutions

Pregnancy is happening over here, no matter how much I try to hide it.  This was the first time I couldn't button my already stretchy pants, thus the visible tank covering my unzipped pant with a hair tie looped around the button holding the top together. At 19.5 weeks on my second pregnancy, the bump is popping out a lot faster than it did with Liam.  And baby girl is taking advantage of all the room in there, doing what feels like cartwheels, high kicks and yoga moves throughout the day and night!  So... should be a pretty fun second half of this preggo journey, I'm sure.

{Outfit Details: Striped Pullover - Madewell (sold out); Pants - Forever21; Shoes (limited sizes left; similar); Necklace; Lips}

{I started eying these a couple weeks ago, here, and they've since made it to me and on my feet. Comfy little buggers they are and pretty much go with everything whether they really go or not, ya know what I mean. Do you ever wonder what you would have worn before getting a new piece of clothing or shoes and proceeding to wear them almost every day?}

 {Enjoyed an evening family walk down to a brook with bridges that Liam loves to cross and stop in the middle to throw sticks off into the water. As the sun was setting we got some good family shadow shots, including the growing bump and all!}

Shoe of the Day: Spanish Sandals

The Spanish give us lots of good things (tapas, architecture, red tile roofs, Javier Bardem...) and only the latest on that list are these summer perfect, simply chic sandals (and from what I've heard, very comfortable). I have the above pair on order.

A few more brands and colors in the Abarca Avarcas Sandal family:

P.S. The sad day has come... Google Reader is gone (sad face), so make sure to follow via BlogLovin (or some other great way I don't know of yet).

Never enough polka dots, no?

Outfit Details: Polka Dot Blazer (c/o Wallis); Polka Dot Tee - old from Forever21 (similar); Yellow Skirt - ASOS
Clutch - ASOS (similar style/similar color); Heels - Urban Outfitters (similar style); Lips

I have the honor to be included in fashion shopping site, Wallis' Facebook style contest with other great  bloggers!  I was also really excited to learn about Wallis through this endeavor, as I had never heard of this site before.  It's a great place to find the latest trends and items at reasonable prices. Can't ever have too many of those types of sites and clothing resources to find exactly what you're craving at a price you can handle!
So I am styling their lightweight polka dot blazer today with a vibrant yellow skirt and... more polka dots, naturally!  I liked the way the smaller dots looked over the larger scaled ones and the contrasting colors. To vote for my look, please click on over to here and click "vote" - super easy!

And follow along for a couple more posts coming up on more Wallis pieces and how I'm styling them for summer!

Pants that make you want to howl!

This past weekend, I travelled to sunnier skies and cooler cities for a girl's weekend to celebrate a friend getting married in a few months. It was also a chance to catch a cool outfit on a traffic-free street in NYC, so meet my friend Katie and her awesome wolf-print pants.  Her style is one of my favs. It's very cool-chic without a lot of fuss. She makes getting dressed look pretty easy.

Stayed tuned for more NYC trip pics tomorrow!

Katie's Outfit Details: Jeans - Urban Outfitters (sold out - but you can get them here), Shirt - H&M, Jacket - 5|48 (similar or here), Yellow Clutch - Thailand (similar or here), Necklace - gift, Wedges - Ash (similar), Sunnies - SEE Eyewear (similar)

Summer Print Mixing

This tribal print in pink and orange is really doing it for me. The warm hues mixed together paired with the cool mint and cold stripes balance out the mixture of hues. Tribal print is big right now. it's everywhere and a great way to spice up a simple outfit or new pattern to mix with my tried, true and beloved stripes. Here are some more great patterned pieces to add to your closet:

Outfit Details: Jacket - H&M a year or so ago (similar), Stripe Top - Old Navy, Mint Pants - Limited last year (similar), Orange Wedges - UO few years ago (similar)
