Summer Fun: Blueberry Picking

A couple weekends ago we hit up a sweet, little berry farm in the most southern destination of the city that I think I've ever driven to intentionally (vs. driving through on my way out of dodge). As the roads turned to gravel and the buildings and homes became few and far between, we drove into a sea of green.  The fields were lined with trees and rows of berry bushes that showed every shade of green possible, and hidden in the leaves were fresh, local fruit!

The Berry Patch grows blueberries (for a few more weeks) and blackberries (just getting started), and sits on 30 acres of land.  Complete with a store and bakery (best blueberry muffins, ever!), kid's fun area, picnic tables and a pond to sit by, this was the perfect summer morning activity (despite the rain that hit us mid-pick... you'll see my hair below - woof!).

Plus, I love being able to teach Liam in real life settings like this, so it was great to show him where one of his favorite fruits comes from!  He loved picking those little blueberries for about 12 minutes (pretty good) and then quickly took to running up and down the rows and in-between the bushes. /toddlers.

Here's our little morning at the Berry Patch:
