Getting Started with Jenny Craig

I'm not one for sticking well with diets or limited food-type meal plans, and while I actually like working out/getting to the gym, my schedule is so erratic and it's hard for me to be consistent.  Since having kids, my job has only gotten busier, my travels have increased and thus came stress and stress eating.  I just never got the baby weight off, and I'm finally at the point of being sick of it.  What still haunts me, and what has mainly kept me from thinking too much about doing something like this in the past, is fear that nothing will work. And that I'll try, and it'll be hard - and yet, no results. 

Well, like any new year, January brings the chance to reevaluate, try something new and get motivated.  So, I'm riding that fresh motivation and trying Jenny Craig. I've never tried this program before, but what pulled me in is it's super accommodating and flexible to individual schedules.  If you don't live near a Jenny Craig center, or have a crazy schedule like mine, 'Jenny Craig Anywhere' offers one-on-one support through consultations over the phone or via video chat.

At Jenny Craig, they've made personal support a priority over their 30 years. Every member is paired with a dedicated consultant who provides them with their customized support to identify their challenges and goals, and helps them to create unique weekly meal and activity plans.  And then, each week, your consultant will work with you on any challenges from the previous week and help develop a plan for the week ahead. Plus, your consultant will keep track of your success with weekly weigh-ins and teach you how to self-monitor.


It's only been a week since I received my meals, snacks, menu and starter kit in the mail, and had my kick off call with my consultant - who is also available by email between weekly phone meetings - and I hardly feel like I'm on a "diet".  The food is really good and contains a variety of things - so I'm not getting bored, but also figuring out what I do like!  Their provided food plan is only until you lose the first half of your goal weight loss, and then you will ween to prepping your own foods - which I really like this phased approach!

And since I do travel quite a bit, I'm working with my consultant to make the best possible choices when eating out (and I can't bring all my Jenny Craig food with me).  But, I do love that a lot of the foods are also easy to grab (and even eat/drink) on the go!


I was really surprised at how much food arrived (frozen stuff came in a dry-ice cooler and shelf-stable items on top) for my first two weeks, and as I was going through it all, putting it away, I was really impressed by the selections and variety - and um, REALLY excited about the desserts!  But besides the desserts, my favorite might be the breakfasts!!  YUM.


So, I'm sharing this, because I hope this will also help keep me accountable - but also, so if any of you have tips/tricks, you'll share with me! Have you ever done Jenny Craig?  I'll keep you updated on how it all progresses, too!  Thanks for your support!
