So the opposite of a little black dress is a light, flowy, white dress - the perfect combo for summer style. I ordered this dress the minute I saw it, loved the lace details (and have already worn it twice since I got it... a week ago). So it's safe to say, this was a good purchase. It's cut loose, so accommodates the bump. But if you are bump free and like a little more fitted look, size down.
P.S. Thank you (yet again) for the sweet tweets, instagram notes and blog comments on yesterday's news! We're excited to add a little pink to our family. :)

More sweet white dresses that are perfect for summer:
Earlier this week I spent a couple fun hours after work with a bunch of cool Kansas City blogger ladies. We were all especially cool on this warm evening, as we sipped on adult snow cones at Snow & Company (though mine was the one and only non-alcoholic slushy treat they offered, it was good nonetheless). This would also become the last thing I drank (and ate a panini to go along with it) for the next 48 hours as soon after I got home, the flu paid me and mean, cruel visit.
I wore this almost all black get up, more of a challenge to myself. I am not usually drawn to wearing black, I tend to sway towards brights and lighter neutrals. I think I find black hard to style, hard to make look more interesting (unless the color is balanced by white in the form of stripes, of course). And especially in the summer... how do you style a little black dress? So I decided to give it a try by adding light layering (lace is a good summer layer) and pops of accessories (oh and lots of bright snow cones).
How do you style the little black dress for summer?

Another week along in my pregnancy with baby #2 and now only one week until we {hopefully} find out the baby's gender! People keep asking if I have a feeling one way or another, and I really don't. I didn't with Liam either. I think I guessed boy with him right before our ultrasound, but it wasn't from a deep maternal instinct or anything.
People also keep asking if I have a preference, and I really don't. First of all, my only hope is that all is cooking just right and it's a healthy baby. Second, I can't control it, so there's no point in hoping or wishing in one direction. And third, either would be terrific! A girl would give us one of each and Liam a different perspective and glimpse into the opposite sex growing up! A boy would give Liam a brother close in age to grow up with playing sports, wrestling, whatever boys do. I'm pretty sure I'm girly enough to give both boys, if that's how it turns out, a good female perspective (so not all is lost there) and I hope my husband and I would be able to raise them to know how to treat a lady.
Speaking of, my little Liam had his first kiss at school last week. Cradled a sweet little girl's checks and plopped one on her. {No one was harmed in this first.} Stay tuned for next week's gender reveal {should all go well at the ultrasound}!
