Pucker Up

Smooches with my new BRIGHT pink lipstick...

My husband says he likes me better without lipstick...but I love experimenting with it and adding some fun color to my face!  It's a girl thing, I tell him.  My new experiment is with Cover Girl Spellbound (a fuchsia color).

Plus, my lips coordinated with my shoes.

Living Room Flor

No, that's not a misspelling of Floor.  I'm talking about FLOR.  The modular carpet tile company that has tons of styles, colors and patterns to pick from.  Best thing, spill some red wine on part of your area rug and can't get it out - the whole carpet is not a waste, just replace the affected tile!  Brilliant!

So I finally decided (from the many of choices) on a new arrival for my Living Room, though this would also look awesome in the Green Room should I decide it's just too busy for the Living Room.  The awesome people at FLOR sent me tiles to create a 5'x7' area rug of Lasting Greatness in white.  And I love it.

It was sort of like putting a puzzle together - you can arrange many different patterns with this design!

And it's easy to assemble.  Really easy.  Set the tiles down in the pattern you want, and then use the FLOR dots to keep the tiles together (though you may not even need these since the back of the tiles are a rubber materiel to keep from sliding).

Here's the Living Room look with it's new FLOR.  What do YOU think?  Vote - Keep where it is or Move to the Green Room!  Either way, I love my new FLOR!

P.S. Favorite Blogger Outfit feature will be back next week (and hopefully with an interview if I can get my act together).  Hope you all are having a wonderful and safe long weekend!

Messy Braid

I've been inspired by this lovely site to be more creative with my hair, or at least do something different with it every once in awhile.  It's hard to do your own hair, but hopefully I can get better.

Introducing my messy side braid:

Wearing that Orange Skirt

Ta-da.  The money saving orange skirt.

With a little druzy...

My new druzy ring is way more sparkly in real life.  And if you are wondering what on earth a druzy is...a thin layer of quartz crystals covering the surface of a host stone.  All I know, its pretty.  You can get a variety of kinds here.

See, Now Summer

It's the midwest, the weather is drastically different from day to day.  Fall one day and summer (yet windy) the next.

      In the Midwest, the weather can also be drastically different between a matter of a couple of hours drive.  For instance, Joplin, MO is about 2.5 hours from where I live.  As I'm sure you've all heard by now (if you own a TV), Joplin was torn apart Sunday evening in a terrible tornado.  So many people injured, missing and sadly, taken from this world.  And it goes on, storms continue to hit that poor city.  My heart goes out to everyone effected by this devastating storm.

Dress for Less: J.Crew Dorrie Skirt

Not that the Dorrie skirt is one of J.Crew's most expensive pieces ($75).  Hey - if something is under $100 bucks at J.Crew, I'm usually pretty excited about it.  But still.  This weekend I actually returned my orange Dorrie skirt for another equally orange skirt, and saved $50.

I originally bought the J.Crew Dorrie skirt for the vibrant color and the fact that it was actually a little longer than their (getting out of hand how short their) typical skirts.  But when it finally arrived (after being back ordered), and simply one try on, it was a wrinkled mess due to the linen material.

Then I saw Loft's orange pintuck hem cotton skirt in the same fun color, currently on special for $25 and promptly returned J.Crew and purchased Loft.  You'll see it very soon in an outfit post.

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Summer Prep

Oooo, I love these oxfords, miss Rosa at Love at First Shop is rocking with her summer brights.  Adds an unexpected pop to this perfect summer outfit.  I've been keeping my eyes peeled for some oxfords myself, and wasn't in too big of a hurry to get some since summer was here and I thought these more for fall.  Oh no, Rosa proves not so.  I guess I'll be prioritizing the search for my own oxfords.

Here outfit deets:
H&M Blue/white Striped Tank
H&M Pleated Knit Skirt
Anthropologie Lift-Off Jacket
Jeffrey Campbell Oxford Flats
Vintage Kissing Mice Belt

Last Bit of Fall

This outfit is a bit fallish for this time of the year, but last week and weekend it was windy, chilly and rainy - so it seemed appropriate.

{Skirt, Shirt & Flats - Gap, Scarf - San Fransisco China Town}

Now the weather seems to be coming to it's senses and it feels like SUMMER!  Time to break out the sundresses.

Psychedelic

Last time I wore this, the photos came out all psychedelic looking too.  It's really just a black and white stripe skirt . I yanked this maxi skirt up to form a midi dress...

 With a splash of orange nail polish:
{Lace top - borrowed from a friend, Lace skirt - Target, Bow flats - ASOS}

No, I'm not glaring at you.  Just apparently having a hard time opening my eyes in the summer sun.  Oh but summer.  I can smell it!  It's on the way.

In the meantime, I'm experimenting with a whole lotta lace.

On Top of the World

Or least it looks like it. Or maybe I should have named this post, Helmet Hair.  You decide.

{Dress - Target, Jellies - Target a couple years ago, Belt - Old Navy, Pink Cuff - c/o Art on Wire, Jacket - H&M}

"Target!  That is where this dress is from.  Yes, recently (last week I got it) and only $24 bucks.  Yes, I'm serious!"

That's how a few conversations went today.  Target is magical.  So is the color orange.  I can't get enough. Especially mixed with a bit of hot pink!

And behind the the orange dress is Lulu the photographer:

Springizing Maritime Dress

Last time I wore the J.Crew Maritime dress, I was winterizing it.  I should be summerizing it or putting it away for summer, but temps dropped into the 50s that last few days...so, the sleeves are coming in hand.

I got these pics in right before my workout, thus the gym in the background.  Hey, at least I was at the gym.  Between all my travels and ridiculously busy schedule lately, I've been lacking in my workouts.  Time to amp that back up.  I really hate when I get off track, I can feel it and see it.  What do you do to get back on track?

And the Orient Watch Winner is...

Lucky LuLu
She is my friend, as you all know, and was actually standing over my shoulder as I counted down 49.  She screamed and jumped when it landed on her.  I had a few other people watching too - so let me assure you it was legit.

Favorite Blogger Outfit: Spring Fling

I love everything about this outfit. The polka dots, royal blue, teal accents/heels, bright yellow purse and even the hot pink toe nail polish.  Looks like a perfect spring time outfit to me.  Taylor has a great blog at Sterling Style full of amazing, inspirational outfits.

I am seriously craving a blousey polka dot top like this one.

Phenom Water Coupons

Coconut water is all the rage right now.  You can read all the reasons you should drink it here.  But I love it because it is low in calorie, has a ton of health benefits and is sweet than water!  Also, you can mix it with alcohol for a healthier (I think?) drinking option.

GNC has a new line of Coconut water called Phenom.  And it comes in different flavors & extras depending on what you results you are after.  You can try this for free.  All you have to do is comment on this post with your name and email address.  GNC will email you a coupon.

Please note, that by signing providing your email address for this coupon, they will be emailing you.  To disconnect from further email correspondence with GNC, you'll have to follow their opt-out link at the bottom of the email.

Funny thing about this top...

...it use to be a dress!  After many not-too-careful washes/drys, this once cute just above the knee dress is now a tunic top.  I got this beaded gray cotton dress a couple years ago in Chicago - in one of the boutiques on Bellview (off the red line - that's all I know).

I wore it so much, that I put it in the back of my closet for while.  I guess I forgot how short it had gotten (ahem), and put it on this morning to wear as a dress.  Obviously that was quick to change since it barely goes over my butt.  So I slipped on some skinny jeans and my high hot pink wedges.  It's now a top.

Summer Sequins

What do you guys think about wearing sequins in the summer?  Last time I wore this  sequin skirt was in the winter with a sweater and tights.  Today I made it more island-wear-esque.  With feathers.  Oh the feathers.  Feathers are everywhere right now.

{Feather earrings - H&M, Teal silk top - Marshall's, Sequin skirt - Gap, Orange Sandals - Target}

Do you have something feathery for this season?  Perhaps in your hair or around your neck?  They are pretty fun, and the earrings make you hair seem a little thicker!  I like wearing these with my hair down, they kind of intermix with my hair a bit for pops of

Check out this week's I See, You See at Lulu's blog (who also took my pics here).  The theme was happiness.  What would you photo to exude happiness?
