Nora's 1st Birthday Garden Party

Nora turned one last month, and to ring in the big milestone, we celebrated with a garden-themed party over brunch.  I wanted something that was opposite of the holiday season, so we loaded up on pretty spring-like flowers, pink and florals.  Thankfully Nora made it through the whole party without needing a nap and seemed to really have fun, despite so many people starting at her every move (or bite!).  She loved having everyone over to celebrate!

FOOD: I made a small healthy version of a smash cake (the vanilla one) for her and then went with LaMar's donuts for everyone else (which if you live in or ever come through Kansas City, you must hit them up).  The "1" candle on her cake was actually saved by mom from when my sister and I turned one!  We had breakfast casseroles, quiche and fruit to go along with all the sugar.

DECOR: I made a mixed-floral backdrop out of ripping cloth and stringing it onto a stick I found in my yard with some twine.  I wrapped a floral garland around the chandelier, and added real flowers to the table in multiple vases. I picked up some $1 clear wine glasses from Target and a bottle of gold spray paint to add stripes and use them as vases.  I also spray painted a mason jar and some wooden platters to add more gold around the house.

To show Nora's growth over the year, I used Tiny Print's acrylic photo blocks and displayed them on the table.  They now are displayed on our fireplace mantle because I love them so much.  My mom drew on our chalk board wall Nora's birthday mural (she did a great job!).

ACTIVITY: For the kids and adults alike, I had a DIY floral crown station with pre-made crown bases made out of wired twine.  There was pre-cut faux-flowers to add and design the crown as you'd like. Nora wasn't a big fan of keeping hers on... but Liam loved to wear it!

It was a great morning with our friends and family. We're so grateful for everyone that came and spoiled Nora with gifts. We can't believe Nora is already into her second year... time flies. Here are a few photos from her special day...
