Fall Trends with LuLu's: Sixties Style

Fashion shows and outfit styling is at an all time high right now - it's kind of the beginning of the year for fashion, I think.  January doesn't mean anything to the fashion world - it all starts with the best season of all, Fall!  Well, it's my favorite season to get dressed for, at least.  And my blogging friend, Meagan (who I've been following for years and you, too, should follow along with her blog, Because of Jackie, if you don't already) and I got to talking about our favorite trends for this up and coming season.  Well, of course, talking led to styling ideas, and a one post collaboration led to a 8-post series!

Talking about trends and seeing them splashed across models and high-fashion magazines can be really daunting when trying to apply those to your own closet, lifestyle and body. And they aren't meant to be copied, but adapted to fit your own said closet, lifestyle and body.  Meagan and I live different lives, have different clothing needs and have different body types, but we can both get excited about the same trends, and have a ton of fun with them.  We want to inspire you to do the same!

This week we're sharing our take on the "sixties" trend that is hitting both the runways and city catwalks alike!  The awesome thing about the 1960s is that there are so many directions you can take - you style more mod, which I'm veered towards with this LuLu's chevron mini-dress/tunic, or sway to the softer, hippie side, like this floppy hat.  Or, you can mix the two, like I did.  Come cooler (real Fall) weather, I'll be layering this tunic over leggings or pulling on my knee-high boots (which I wanted to wear for this outfit, but haven't uncovered them from their hiding storage space yet...)!

How are you inspired by the 60s for your own Fall outfit style?

{Outfit details: Floppy hat - mine is old, but you can find a super cute one right here; Sweater Tunic - LuLu's; Loafers - old from Target (but here are some cute knee-high boots); Necklace - c/o Janesko (currently giving away one here!)}

Make sure to check out Meagan's outfit for more 1960s-inspiration!

Thanks to LuLus.com for sponsoring this series, though all thoughts on trends and styling are strictly my own! LuLu's is just a fantastic, affordable place you can consider when refreshing your own Fall wardrobe!
