Mini Kitchen Makeover

While we wait (aka save save save) for a complete kitchen renovation (like removing a wall, replacing the floor, painting the ceiling, you know, starting from scratch), I decided I needed to give the space a mini face lift if anyone ever wants to eat my cooking gain (ok, so that ultimatum isn't going to work). But really - I just can't take the tan stained wood all over our kitchen which lacks any personality.  Above is my inspiration and below are my current plans.

{diamond rug & chevron rug (but got the runner size); retro classic chairs; storage baskets for the chalkboard wall; dish towels with arrow print; Art by Ampersand Studio; DIY elephant key hooks; chalk holder;  twig wall hooks, white pendant light}

What are some mini-ways you makeover a space?

  1. I really love the idea of having a chalkboard wall in the kitchen! Especially with little ones! I think it's so fun!

  2. For me it's reorganising the furniture or taking something from one room and repurposing it somewhere else. some day is like to have the means to being my Pinterest boards into reality though ;)

  3. We are also save save save saving for a "real" kitchen - we moved into an old lady house, and the kitchen hasn't changed since the 60s! We started by just painting the walls a fresh color, did some peel-n-stick tiles to cover the weird vinyl floor, and are going to chalkboard-paint our fridge! Temporary fixes until we can do the whole shebang!

  4. The only thing I want to change in my kitchen is the countertops. I dream of granite! I really like the table in the bottom right you posted. It is very cute :)

  5. I like the kitchen with chalkboard wall.
