The NYE that is not happening

It's been 4 years since I've gone all out for NYE... with the limo, champagne, all dressed up with big plans and a great group of friends.  While those nights were fun and the memories grand, these days I have no desire to shell out the bucks, nor start the new year with a headache*.

These last couple years my NYEs has been pretty low key, sometimes with good friends, always with my husband and now a new tradition (as of last year) of being with our baby. While this year I will not be living the evening in the photos above (no matter how much I'd love to wear my sequins), I'll be looking forward to the events I have in 2013 that will surely paint a similar picture (like the many weddings I have upcoming and celebratory gatherings with friends).

This NYE will be about reflecting, spending the time with loved ones and getting a head start of some resolutions (though I hate the pressure that word brings, tune in tomorrow for my thought out list). So this year? I have a hot date with my two boys, my best sweats and a little champagne to ring in the next exciting chapter (which will likely start at 11pm for me, as I'm not sure I'll be able to stay awake until midnight - I know, I'm so lame).

(*though if you are one that is living NYE up the good ol' fashion way, live it up and enjoy (safely). You never know when you may not be up for it any more...)

Happy New Year's to you all! I hope whatever you are doing, you start 2013 off in your happy face. Cheers to a fresh beginning. xox

a very merry christmas indeed

Liam's second Christmas was quite the fun this year! We stayed at my parents house and in the morning when we came down the stairs he crawled right over to the presents!  He was so excited he did a few spins on his knees to make sure we were all seeing what he was as we stood behind him!  We weren't actually seeing what he was seeing, we were all too busy watching his little face light up. Here are a few shots from our very merry christmas.

Liam did not get a new iPhone for Christmas, he was just borrowing one. :) He did get lots of books, blocks and things that make noise. We are all enjoying his new toys!  Hope your Holidays were bright! Keep on celebrating till the New Year!

xox,
Megan

making something more of winter wear

For me, I love winter clothing more than anything. I think it's because of all the options and the ability to layer, layer, layer. By layering comes the fun of mixing prints, colors and textures and that provides so much more interest to me than just slipping on a tank and skirt (though I love the simplicity that warmer weather brings).

Keep reading to see my neutral, but mixed print outfit...

Leading up to Christmas Eve

.

A few scenes from the last few days leading up to Christmas Eve. Watching Liam discover, watch, learn and enjoy this time of year has been magical for us all. I love how big his eyes got when we put up the tree and lights. I enjoyed his laugh as we ran through the first snow fall of the season! We loved decorating for his birthday and the holiday season together as a family, filled with homemade snowflakes and all!

And we are so looking forward to the next two days of more family and friends, parties and gatherings, homemade cooking and holiday treats, and best of all, extra time with the ones I love.

Merry Christmas to you all! I hope Santa is good to you and yours.
