An outdoor Fall wedding in a bright dress

This past weekend I went to an absolutely perfect Fall time wedding. There was a new crisp to the air that allowed everyone to (finally) grab a light layer (or borrow their husband's suit jacket). The subtle rustling of leaves as the cool breeze blew was especially lovely as the beautiful couple said their vows under a setting sun.

I choose to wear a bright zigzag dress to the festivities and to dance the night away. Keep reading to see more pics of my outfit and amazing wedding details you'll want to remember for your own (or a friend's) wedding.

I've known what I was going to wear to this upcoming event since the beginning of August when I received this fun dress! It's been hanging in my closet just waiting for me. It's so comfortable, swingy and unique. I got tons of compliments and am already picturing how to dress it down for the office or weekend.

This wedding was so truly unique, I just had to share some of my favorite decor pieces and the bride's beautiful dress details.

The bride and groom's cake was so awesome, I took almost 20 photos of it alone - set upon a sliced log to serve as a cake stand and then adorn with leaves made of icing. The ceremony & cocktail hour was outside and the indoor reception area was filled with Chinese lanterns and white lights. Near the cake was a sweet table of photos of the bride and groom and their families with little mementos. Each guest received a custom CD of some of their favorite songs.

The brides dress was so beautiful - I just had to capture some of the perfect details like the beaded sash, stunning lace and bajillion of buttons down the back. Perhaps one of the coolest parts was the bottom half with train detached and it turned into a fun party dress for the dancing!

Wedding was located at the Hobbs Building in downtown Kansas City.
