I had the extreme pleasure of not just attending the Kansas City Fashion Week kick off event benefiting Wayside Waifs at Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th located at the Legends Outlets last Thursday night, but styling a model for Fall.
I chose to show how you can incorporate white moving into Fall and strive to continue to help combat that old wives tale that you can't wear white after labor day. This is just one way to do it, and a glamorous way at that. But it's easy to tone down the glamour by layering on a big cozy sweater coat or cardigan instead of the brocade jacket, swap heels for flats and try a slicked-back ponytail. Keep reading to see more photos from the event, meet my model and see my styling come to life!
Meet Aly. Not only a model, but also Miss Teen Kansas. Yes, you read that right: Teen. She is only 14, yet instantly grabs the room's attention with her mature and well-mannered demeanor. Her elegance and grace as she strutted around the party kept that attention and people were flocking to her (I'd like to think because they wanted to know what she was wearing, but I'm pretty sure it was just because of how beautiful she is).
I'm excited to see Aly walking the runway at the actual KCFW events coming up and will be sure to catch some photos of her!
(Model Reighann, styled by Jess of Mimi & Chichi and Model Aly, styled by Megan of Chasing Davies - me!)
More about transitioning white into Fall. Take your summer whites into Fall by grounding them with Fall's hottest color, burgundy (or wine, Merlot, oxblood if you'd rather). I love the pops of this color in her shoes, bag and on her lips.
Try mixing textures in the white pieces you pair together (if mixing more than one item) to make for a richer look. Any sort of layering will also help bring your whites into Fall.
