DIY Home Accessory Balls

There is no better way to say it than, Balls.  Decorative balls, accessory balls, twine balls, whatever - it all sounds weird.  Over Thanksgiving, I took a little craft project up to Omaha with me to keep my hands busy!  An easy and fun little home decor DIY accessory to make while you watch TV or something...

 My twine balls:

First, what you'll need:

1. Foam balls in your size(s) of choice - I got mine at Walmart in the craft section.
2. Rope and/or twine - again, can be found at Walmart.  I got the twine from my husband's tool area. :)
3. Hot glue gun/glue sticks - or other good adhesive.
Optional: Spray paint (if you want to change the color of your decor balls.  I haven't done that, yet.

How-To:

Easy peasy... first, start with hot gluing the tip of the rope down to the foam ball

Twirl the rope around, tight so you can't see the white foam, and just go around and around, gluing every once an awhile to keep the rope tight to the ball

I mixed rope and twine for the larger foam ball - Just glued down the end of the twine about half way and glued the start of the new piece of rope over that end to continue along.

These are perfect to set out on a try or fill up a vase or bowl.  Easy little decor pieces for about $1 a piece!

I think I'll make some more in different sizes and maybe even try spray painting some for different colors!  You could even make really small ones for vase fillers.  Try just twisting and rolling the rope right over itself - no foam needed - for small little balls or knots to fill a vase... I'll let you know if I come up with any more twine/rope fun. :)
