A Heart for Valentine's Day

You can't get by visiting Chasing Davies on Valentine's Day sans seeing a heart, right? A big pink heart. Though it does seem less lovey-dovey in neon pink, paired with a neon green skirt and lots of other colors, right? I hope to save all the lovey for my family.

We plan to just hang at home, spending quality time together since weekday nights are too short and weekends are even shorter. At this stage of Liam's toddlerhood, he's learning something new every day, and I mainly feel like I'm missing it. I just want to soak him all in.
^^ On another note... you guys, I suck at hair. I see cute hair among all you other bloggers out there, and I try to follow tutorials and replica and it ends up like this.  I just need some easy hair ideas - something other than changing my hair part from side to middle and wearing it down. I want to have cute hair styles! Help! If any of you know of easy ideas (or of a hairstylist to come live with me), please let me know!

Little outfit joys

My new dress, my new dress! I love it so. A little dot action, layered with my favorite wintery pattern... plaid. I got this dress on Black Friday and I already find myself wanting to wear it everyday. But we'll just start with today...

Three Easy Rules to Pattern Mixing

This might be a little wild for some, but why this outfit works {if you dare} comes down to three easy rules...  Because each piece contains the same color comb {navy + white in this case}, the two items flow together. And with one pattern being a smaller scale {the polka dots} than the other, they don't compete. Then to really pull the two patterns into an outfit, pops of color in the same hue family break it up.

For all you who love an infographic (who doesn't?!):

Subtle ways to spice up any outfit!

My go to tactic for spicing up a basic outfit has been layering on the gold necklaces lately, as seen here and today!  But today I added a bit more pizzazz by breaking out my stash of colored tights (yayyy!)!

Three Subtly Different Outfits with Polka Dots, Faux Fur & Camo

I  was having a super indecisive day and ended up with three subtle versions of this outfit, asking my husband for his opinion (which is actually never any help) as he snapped pics for you all to be the judge (a ton more help).

This is me, right before a great event.

Yesterday I showed you a few fun party pics from a very unique {and so completely amazing} event I attended last week - here's a bit more about what I wore with interviews/tips from Genevieve & Jonathan Adler to come tomorrow {!!}. Keep reading to see how I wore Target to this pretty fancy soiree...

This is my morning face, sorry. But the outfit is good.

Mornings aren't my thing. It usually takes an hour or so for my face to come alive... On this morning, I took my outfit pics before I left work which means, I look a little scary, BUT my clothes aren't wrinkled, yet.

The stripe and dot showdown

What do you guys think about the fully buttoned-up collars going around these days?  It definitely works for layering under another top, but I also like this look it alone or maybe with a big chunky necklace.

Big dots, small dots... keep reading to see the stripes for a pattern-mixed outfit!

Stripes on Stripes

One of the first pregnant enewsletters I got from What to Expect wrote about what to wear with a growing belly.  One of the things it said was to avoid horizontal stripes. HAH.  Well I have been wearing horizontal stripes the past 30 weeks, and today, bigger than ever - I am amping it up to double stripes!

My preggo dressing advice - wear whatever the heck you feel comfortable in!  You have a baby in your belly - it's ok for that to be obvious!  Some days I look bigger, other days smaller depending on what I wear or how he's sitting in there, but as long as I like the clothes I'm wearing, I feel better!

And thank goodness for spandex and loose sweaters.  No maternity wear necessary, and I can wear again post-pregnant (and have worn pre-pregnant).

Shoe of the Day - Nude AND Metallic Heels

Nude shoes, whether they're heels, sandals or flats are definitely in right now.  A go-with-anything shoe that can extend your legs for days.

And these Seychelles Card Shark heels have an added bonus - a touch of metallic:

And on another note - if you ever buy anything online, you should definitely have an Ebates account.  I'm sure you've heard of this from other blogs or elsewhere - but now you can hear my review.  I signed up for an account (FREE) a couple months ago, and then every time I want to buy something online, I follow these simple steps:

First sign in to my Ebates account
Search for the site via their search bar
Click on the "Shop Now" link next to searched site
It opens a new browser to shop and buy away

So what is the benefit?  Buy following these steps, you accrue cash back!  For instance, right now, you can get 11% cash back on purchases from Piperlime.  The cash back percentages change day to day, store to store.  Before you can start getting money back on things you were ALREADY going to buy...you need to sign up for an account! Sign up here.

Right now Ebates is celebrating their 11th Birthday by offering 11% cash back on many stores, like Gap stores, Sephora, Macy's, Ann Taylor, and more.

And like you need even more incentive...sign up now and you'll get $5 right away. Easy-peasy.  So, like I said, I've been using for a couple months and already got a check for $20.  AKA, I shop too much.  But $20 for buying what I was already going to buy for no extra work or hassle - I'll take it.  Give it a whirl!
