Simple Jewelry with a Big Impact

Time to revisit your jewelry drawer (or dish, or stand). What are you actually wearing these days?  For me, I have a drawer full of costume jewelry that I rarely use and a small dish of fine (but affordable) jewelry that I wear everyday. I've been obsessed with simple gold jewelry now for years, and my love for ear huggies has sky rocketed.

I think these simple jewelry pieces can add up to make a sophisticated impact. I like to layer necklaces of different lengths to dress up or add interest to a basic or solid color top.  And my newest obsession is the ear cuff.  I love that you don't have to add another piercing to your lobes to add a piece of jewelry.

And actually, it's been a long time since I've worn earrings in my second piercing, but I wanted to layer multiple ear huggies, so I had to re-pierce the hole a tiny bit and now I'm back!  Truth be told, I pierced these second holes myself back in high school in the first place (and that's why they aren't in the best placement - so I don't recommend that route).

Finally, I also wear thin gold rings, and stack them to add more impact when I want to punch it up. I don't even take my rings off since they're so light and thing - and they don't tarnish at all.

What ways do you give simple jewelry a wow?

You can see how I styled my gold ear huggies with a bright pink blazer here.

Amazon It List

{Top to Bottom; Right to Left:

My Amazon IT list of what I'm feeling and loving right now. That prime gets me everytime. Here are the fashion, accessory and other random items I recommend:

Cute totes and purses for summer are great to find for cheaper on Amazon! I love this round wicker purse for under $30, this popular bamboo tote and this black/white stripe beach tote for under $25.

All the things you need for summer at the pool or beach are on Amazon! My favorite sunscreen, this cute and flattering strapless swimsuit, these birkenstock knock-off and waterproof slip on sandals, and a lace swimsuit coverup that can double as a summer layer to an outfit (worn here).

I get a lot of my everyday hair tools and products, as well as fun trendy pieces from Amazon. I have been using this hot tools curling iron for 10+ years. It's inexpensive and works like a charm.  And I use these crocodile clips to keep pieces of hair back while I style my hair.

I am loving the fun hair clip trend and have picked up these pearl ones (seen on Nora and I above) and geometric/tortoise shell ones. Nora and I share these clips - she still thinks it's fun to match. :)  I've also just ordered these knot headbands for under $15.

My closet isn't hurting either - I love Amazon's workout pants (worn above) for workout classes or shorter/cooler workouts (they just don't breath as well as more expensive versions, but at $25 and a ton of fun colors - worth it!). I also love stocking up on summer dresses - like this stripe short-sleeve dress.

And what's a closet without a million stripe shirts? This one is under $18, and I love how it's longer in the back - perfect for wearing with leggings.

Some of my current favorite shoes I've scored recently are these cream sneakers and these white slides:

A light weight and fun earring to add to your summer rotation are these tortoise shell hoops.

And probably one of the most popular buys from previous Amazon posts over on my Like2Know.it account, and that I also love myself is this faux-marble tray that I use as a sink caddy for my soaps and, another favorite item, this soap dispenser that suds up in the dish with the brush.

Spring Trend: Clear!

The season ahead looks very clear!  Pops of transparent bags and straps on shoes filled the runways, showing us what Spring and Summer 2019 accessories will be all about (and not talking about those clear bags to get into NFL games).

And even if you aren't totally cool with revealing all your insides, there are baby steps towards the trend you can take. Like this semi-transparent holographic bag that I got last summer after my good friend Katie inspired me with the cute way she styled hers.

{holographic bag from this outfit here}

My recent clear/white leather bag has been one I have been eying for awhile! I love the mod style, and how easy it is to use with any outfit.  I shared more about it - and this look - here.

The other half of the clear trend I'm seeing everywhere are on your feet! I love love love these clear sandals (more sizes here & here), but decided to take a cheaper route to this trend with these ones (more sizes here). These clear sandals are actually comfortable and the studs break up all that clearness. I love that they can really be worn with anything, and add a little something extra to a look.

A round up of these and other cute clear sandals and bags (at all price points) to try this season:

Favorite Wears: White After Labor Day, YES!

My favorite time to wear white just might be after Labor Day.  And I think wearing all one color with different texture's and elements make this all-white, post-Labor Day look feel chic and unexpected.  Add in some studs, a pop of color or pattern in an accessory and mix up the types of textures to keep in interesting.

*White coffee cup not planned.

Favorite Wears: Summer Dresses for Fall

I love making the most out of my clothing. I always feel best about something that can be evolved and worn all year around. This summer dress can be dressed up or down, and layered for fall. I can't wait to try my hand and styling it for the cold of winter (I'm thinking layered over a turtleneck and booties.

This perfect-for-summer bag was a total score off of Amazon. After one of my good friends, Katie,  (who has been on this blog a ton - here, as she is one of my own style inspirations) was rocking it on our recent trip to NYC, I had to pick it up for myself (under $20!).  I love when I see other people I'd admire style something unexpected and makes me think about something I would have never bought on my own. I have since worn this bag a ton to spice up an outfit or have some fun.

What are some of your own versatile pieces that you can wear a ton?

Favorite Wears: Scrunchy, Leopard & Sneakers - Oh my!

I love taking a shirt dress that I've historically dressed up for events or work, and turn it casual with sneakers - and a scrunchy (gasp!).  Sneakers are my go-to these days, and I love a pair that look a bit different.  I wore this outfit to work and then out after with friends for a night of shopping and dinner.

Guys, are scrunchies back?  I mean, I'm definitely seeing them way more, and in an effort to be kinder to my hair (it breaks so easily), I have swapped my hair bands for them! But I feel like these with a little bow help keep it modern?   But maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better...

The Most Important Fashion Staple

It's a new year, and while I get angry every time I go to the now-over crowded gym, or try to pick up my kale/spinach (mostly for smoothies) to find them 99% picked over, I'm riding the motivation for my own good.  I've already started a new healthy eating program, looked back on 2016's failures and now, I'm cleaning out my closet and dresser drawers - starting with my undergarments.

This is the one area I totally neglect, keeping bras around for waaayyyyyyy too long, and wearing the same one or two over and over, while I have a completely stuffed drawer full of others.  While I was cleaning out my drawer of bras - I found some from pre-pregnancy for goodness sake! Now, obviously my body has majorly changed - twice! (those sweet little blessings...), and it's completely ridiculous that I have hoarded these old bras.

Now, I don't know what is worse - old bras, or wearing the same one for more than a year, almost every day.  They do have a lifespan - and that is too long. I didn't even realize how unflattering my once favorite bra had become until I received these new Olga bras. It was an instant makeover right there. Instantly my tops looked and fit better.

And finally, it's not about just getting a new bra - but obviously the right one. The right one for your body most importantly, but also for the outfit or material of the top you're wearing.  That's something I've been playing with a bit more recently.  As I mentioned, I was wearing the same bra for far too long, but with anything/everything.  I now have brand new bras in 4 different styles - all from the new Olga Flirty collection.

Bras c/o by Olga, part of the new Flirty Collection.  The Laundress Delicate Wash to make your now new and better bras lasting as long as possible, the Laundress Delicate Spray to remove odors, and Scented (vanilla pear!) Liners for your drawers!

Favorite Wears: Neutral Winter Layers

Winter Layers Over a Summer Dress

The first stowy, winter weather has ben jonesing for Christmas - and unpacking all my winter gear. I took stock of my sweaters first, and now have up been digging out my coats, scarves, hats and gloves.  Layers are key!  So, I wanted to share an winter look full of layers - and if you can believe it, a summer dress!

I started with fleece lined tights for warmth and wore my favorite summer dress. I topped the summery white with an earth-toned long sweater and then a light pink coat that I wear alllll the time. Warm accessories helped pull all the neutrals together, and my earrings kept things a little sparkly.

I'm really picky and minimal in my jewlry game these days. My style is always shifts and comes in phases, and I'm feeling that shift with my accessories.  I like more of a simple and light look right now, not weighed down with a lot of jewelry.  But I want them to add a pop or a sparkly - so these earrings do just that. A bit more than studs, super light on my earlobe and unique looking!  Happiness Boutique has a ton of great jewelry for whatever your current mood/style is - but tons that are right up my alley!

Cheers to a lot more winter layering!

{Outfit Details: Dress from Loft (similar option, or a more fitted option if you prefer) Long Sweater from Loft (similar or here), Booties, Tights, Coat (last year's color; similar color option), Hat, Earrings c/o, Lips}
